Course Description 

 

This course provides the practical skills and knowledge required to conduct and oversee the day-to-day financial operations and legal issues of a business or a department within a larger organisation. 

Financial and legal knowledge are an essential part of financial management and company accountability. As someone who is responsible for the managing of a business or a manager in a department of an organisation, you need to monitor legal and financial issues to ensure that your management is based on accounting and legal information that is correct and useful. 

These systems make it possible for you to check whether your financial strategy is working, whether your organisation or department is financially viable (able to survive), and whether your allocated company or departmental budget is being well spent in achieving your objectives. 

This course gives the students an awareness of accounting, legal issues and concepts needed by managers for effective communication with accountants, company lawyers and other specialists on financial and legal matters.

 

 

Course Structure 

 

The course is held over a 12 week period. 
Sessions are held once weekly in the evenings between 18.30 and 20.30
Each session is of 2 hours duration.
